Make a Difference in the Monrovia Community

Become a Director to help shape and guide the MPWR Foundation and leave a lasting legacy

From the Covid-19 pandemic to the Bobcat Fire, the incredible value of our parks and open space has become even more clear. Monrovia has done a great job in the past to support our recreation programs, parks, facilities and open space. However, there is always more opportunity and need as the budget shortfall from COVID-19 has already caused cuts to existing park and recreation programs.

Because of the great need and recent events, the board of the Monrovia Wilderness Preserve Foundation, Inc, a 501(c3) independent foundation established in 2000, has changed its name to the Monrovia Parks, Wilderness, and Recreation Foundation (MPWR) and revised and expanded its mission to support recreation and community programs, parks, facilities, and open spaces in Monrovia.

If you would like to make a difference to MPWR and our community we would like to hear from you. To continue the growth of the new Monrovia Parks, Wilderness and Recreation Foundation we are looking for potential new board members to help shape and guide the Foundation over the next few years.

Please email us at [email protected] with any questions or click on the button below to print out and complete the application.

Board Benefits:

  • The opportunity to give back to Monrovia by ensuring we can provide amazing park, wilderness and recreational experiences that the Gem City of the foothills deserves.
  • The chance to help shape this new foundation and leave a lasting legacy.

Board Expectations:

  • The Board of Directors will be expected to be part of a “fundraising and working board” and share their time, talent, and treasure. The purpose of the re-imagined board is to financially support the mission of the organization. Therefore, board members will be expected to abide by a give or get policy of $2,500 annually.
  • The board may meet on a monthly to quarterly basis.
  • The board will collaborate with the City to develop the specific projects and programs they will support.
